It’s great to be part of the Los Alamos community!
Hilltopper Softball Academy!
July 24, 2018
On July 24th 2018, LACD was proud to sponsor the Hilltopper Softball Academy. We know sports are important in the development of our community, so we loved having this opportunity to help out! We are proud to give back to our community in whatever ways we can.
The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board does so much for our community that we decided to do a little something for them. JJAB strives to help youth feel connected and recognized in our community. They work case by case, making sure that each individual they are helping is impacted in a positive way. JJAB also works with families through teaching workshops for the betterment of the community. We were so happy to help such a great program!
Habitat for Humanity
As we were remodeling this summer, we only had ONE problem! And that was finding a new home for our gently used furniture. Donating them to Habitat for Humanity was our solution! We are so grateful for the opportunity to revamp LACD and even more so to help someone else do the same.
This summer we partnered with local businesses to share our excitement in being a part of such a great community! Each week we gave away gift cards to our patients to enjoy some of the wonderful businesses around town. It was wonderful to encourage local business growth and surprise some of our patients as well!
The Kite Festival is a huge spring event in Los Alamos, and we were ecstatic to be able to show our support. We handed out free shirts during the two day festival but also had a little fun in the sun ourselves!
Operation smile was one of the events we supported this year. This organization allows children born with facial deformities including cleft lip and cleft palate to undergo a life changing surgery. We are proud that the amount of money raised was enough to help five children! It was amazing to be able to help a child in need.

We love our moms here at Los Alamos Children’s Dentistry! On Mother’s Day we decided to do something a little special. The whole day we handed out flowers to the moms of our patients to show our gratitude. It was a special treat to contribute to their special day!
Here at LACD we love teaching the importance of healthy habits to children and parents. Dr. Bill had a fun morning going to New Horizons to teach the kids how we keep our mouths sugar-bug free! It’s always a great time contributing to our community.

After the war, Maurice enrolled in the Washington University School of Medicine and received his MD degree in 1950. He followed his father into the practice of pediatrics and enjoyed a long, successful career. After his retirement, he was honored by the Washington University Medical School and the St. Louis Children’s Hospital as the 1994 recipient of Distinguished Service Award. A decade later, one of four Distinguished Alumni Scholarships for the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, was named for Dr. Maurice Lonsway Jr. He was also presented with a St. Louis Pediatric Society’s annual award for excellence. Maurice married Ernesta O’Mara in 1958, and their son, Maurice Lonsway lll, became a doctor and continues to practice in the St. Louis region. Beyond medicine, Maurice is dedicated to conservation.
